I. INSTALLATION OF QMSOFT
=========================

To install QMSOFT :

1. Insert the QMSOFT CD-ROM in your CD-Drive.
   Use the Windows-File-Manager or the WINDOWS95 Explorer to execute
   the File "SETUP.EXE" in the directory "INSTALL" on the CD-ROM.
   See the users dialogue. You should confirm the default settings.
   After finishing the installation the programs may be executed in
   the DEMO mode with a restricted functionality.

2. Start the QMSOFT program with a double click on the program icon
   inside the QMSOFT program group.
   Enter the user name and the password.
   ATTENTION: Enter "system" for both !!

3. To use a program with its complete functionality you need
   a program license for the each program.
   If you have purchased one or several program license(s) you get an
   program copy lock (Dongle) and a list of licence numbers.
   Plug the copy lock into a parallel interface of your computer.
   Pay attention to plug the dongle in the direction of the arrow
   marked on it !!
   Now, press the "Key" Button to authorize your program licences.
   At first unlock the "Dongle". For this, press the "Dongle" Button
   and enter the license number for the "Dongle" and your user name.
   Press the "Authorize" Button to unlock the Dongle and close the
   window. Than press the "Key" Button and enter the license number
   for each program you have bought.

4. Using Windows NT or Windows 2000 or Windows XP:
   Pay attention, that you need "System manager" rights to install the
   special driver for the hardlock. Otherwise the installation will
   not be succesfull.
   To install the driver you have to execute the program HLDRV32.EXE
   (located on the QMSOFT CD-ROM in the directory "\DRIVER\Hardlock").
   The HLDRV32.EXE is very easy to use. You have only to follow the
   messages on your screen.

Now the installation is finished.

===================

While installing QMSOFT the program manual will be copied to
the "C:\QMSOFT4W\DOC" directory. The manual files are saved

   and "C:\RS_RUN" (Report Smith Runtime), if this components are not
   used by other software .

IV. NETWORK PROBLEMS WITH WINDOWS 95
====================================

In a network (Windows NT server, Windows 95 workstations) it
may be, the error "BLOB wurde gendert" (in English: "BLOB was
changed") occures, when changes should be written into the
gauge database. It has been determined that there is a problem with
VREDIR.VXD version 1111 and 1113 only. If you have versions 950 or
1116, this problem will not occur.
Also, there must be more than one application using the table. If any
one of the applications machine is using the bad VREDIR.VXD (1111 or
1113) the error will occur on all machines. Other information is also
available see Microsoft Document Q174371.

You can update the VREDIR.VXD with the VRDRUPD.EXE from the directory
\DRIVER\VRDRUPD on the CD-ROM. For the newest version of this update
file please contact the Microsoft Customer Service.
